Go After Your Dreams

I'm NOT Crazy, I'm Creative AND Multi Passionate

Are you a creative person who loves to collect a mountain of ideas? Do you find it difficult to get things done or bring projects to completion?
If so, you may have a set of personality traits that are uncommon and cause you to struggle more than others. And yes, you might feel a little crazy, but it’s a good crazy I promise you.
Do you find yourself getting overwhelmed? Not able to let go of all the possibilities? You are not alone. I totally get it!
What if I were to tell you that you can learn to work with your natural way of being? Are you tired of everyone telling you to do things differently, only to fight with who you REALLY are?

Understanding your Personality Type

One of the things that is well worth looking into is your personality type. There are a lot of different typology systems out there. As a creative, the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) could be your pot of gold.
Within MBTI there are sub groups that help you to narrow in on a particular aspect. For example, the NP (Intuitive Perceiving) group.  At the Personality Junkie website I learned so much in one evening of reading that it turned my world on end (in a really great way).

How to Plan for Success

Do you get Stuck in Planning

Planning is an essential part of success, without it, your dreams are not going to show up and you will face disappointment. But what if you are the type of person who gets stuck in the planning, never feeling ready to take action?

For this, I turned my attention to the Enneagram and when I considered how a 5 AND an NP naturally are, the rules for planning shifted big time!

Check out the article on Why INTP, INTJ & Enneagram 5 Types “Don’t Feel Ready” to Act and see if any of this resonates with you. This could be a huge game changer for you, it was for me.

Start More Projects than you Finish?

Here’s something I found on Minette Riordan’s site that sounded encouraging, “I do believe that we need to finish some of our projects in order to feel a sense of accomplishment and self-satisfaction. We also need to finish projects if we want to make money in our business. But I also believe we can do a better job of being okay with letting projects go and not holding onto projects that seem exciting at first but we quickly get bored with.”

For me, letting go of projects that no longer interested me was key. But we live in a Get It Done society that doesn’t always sit well with the creative type that I have come to know and love. I may not need to change, but that doesn’t mean I have to stay stuck.

Staying Motivated

Do you Crave the Inspiration of Something New?

Sure, I could “feel” better if I finished more projects, but that doesn’t feed that other side of me that needs variety and novelty. Choosing my battles and letting go of the “need” to win the war was far more appealing and important for me.

I also recommend looking into your personality type to gain a deeper understanding of what might be going on. This understanding can lead you to some fabulous creative solutions.
